Jack Krater died on May 21, 2021 at Agrace Hospice in Madison, Wisconsin. Jack was born to John Paul Krater Sr and Yvonne Finke on June 5, 1940 in Lemay, Missouri back when it was "out in the country."
He attended St. Francis of Assist Grade School and CBC High School of the illustrious class of 1958. He tried his hand at college for one year at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN.
John Paul Jr. was called Jack, Jackson and Jackie. He nurtured many lifelong friendships and helped whenever he could. He played a variety of golf courses with the "fearless foursome" and in later years traveled with a friend, Joe. Jack was a lifelong honorary member of the Geraghty family, and a doting "favorite uncle" to his many nieces and nephews.
With his dad and Ernie Johansen, he owned Howard Johnson Motel and Restaurant in Hazelwood from its beginning in 1962 into the '80s. The longevity of staff was a tribute to his warmhearted character. He had a contagious chuckle, and delighted in telling corny jokes and hearing his audiences groan with laughter. He was the master of one liners, even to the end!!!
Jack was most generous with his faithfulness to God, his CBC buddies and to his mother, Yvonne, and her care. He is survived by his sister, Marcia Krater of Madison, WI, cousins and nieces and nephews.
Services: A Celebration of Life was held at St. Martin de Porres Church, Hazelwood, MO on Friday, September 17, 2021 with Visitation from 9–10 am,followed by Mass at 10 and a Brunch afterward. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery. Please make contributions to people in need in his honor. A copy of the beautiful eulogy Marcia gave for her brother, Jack is available here.
Gary Hach: A Celebration of Life
June 4, 2021
Gary Hach passed away on May 9, 2021 at the age of 80. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather—along with being an avid lover of planes, trains, the St. Louis sports scene, and whatever activity his grandkids were involved in.
Beloved husband of the late Sharon (nee Everson) Hach, he leaves behind his cherished children Renee (m. Kevin) Mayse, Robert (m. Debi) Hach, and Risa (m. Chuck) Schoene. His deeply loved grandchildren whom he always supported are Kaitlyn and Cody Mayse, Tyler (m. Dez) Hach , Cameron (m. Hannah), Cassandra, and Riley Schoene, and honorary grandchildren Brian (m. Nicki) and Kelly Everson. His great-grandchild is Asher Hach. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Preceded in death by his parents Norman and Margaret (nee Kroell) Hach and sister LaVerne (Charles) deLeusomme.
He loved his family very much, as we did him. We will always remember his love of planes, his knowledge of WWI & WWII, and his passion for his 51 years of work at Boeing (McDonnell Douglas and McDonnell). He was the #1 fan at every church, high school, and college sport or performance his kids and grandkids were involved in. He was a true brother to his CBC class of
1958. He may be gone, but the impact of his kind, humorous, quick-witted view of life will always be with us. Fly High, Gary.
We thank you all for your love and support during this time. Plans for his memorial are underway and we will update you as they develop. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gary’s name to CBC and the Tom Maher Scholarship at 1850 De La Salle Dr, St. Louis, MO 63141.
Visitation was held at CBC High School Chapel, 1850 De La Salle Dr., St. Louis, MO 63141 on Friday, June 4 from 2:00 pm–3:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m
